Dickson Poon Undergraduate Law Scholarship
The Dickson Poon School of Law have a range of scholarships for Hispanic students and students from countries worldwide they include the The Dickson Poon Undergraduate Law Scholarship which is available to Hispanic Students as well as students who apply to Kings College London’s LLB course which is a Bachelor of Laws degree from the Latin Legum Baccalaureus.
The scholarship is paid for by Sir Dickson Poon, at least twenty five LLB Scholarships are awarded each year with students receiving £5,000 per year for every year of their study and for the first year of study scholarship students will receive free student accommodation at Kings College London.
The law scholarship is to reward outstanding law students with a scholarship, as the competition for these scholarships is high students are expected to take on responsibility in the law school community whilst studying and to take an active role in the wider law community after their graduation.
Hispanic students will need to apply to the Dickson Poon School of Law LLB undergraduate degree through the UCAS University Clearing Association Service and both deferred entry Hispanic and other ethnicity students as well as those not deferring a year are accepted. The Dean of the law school appoints a selection panel to assess scholarship applicants, scholarships are based on the basis of academic achievement in the students previous studies, the scholarships are not based on financial need meaning that both poor or rich students are eligible for the scholarship and only the students with the best grades will be awarded the scholarship. Students who are of interest to the selection panel will be added to a short list and invited for interview.
Perseverance Trust Scholarship
The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery at Kings College London also have a range of scholarships for Hispanics and students from a great many other countries these scholarships include the Perseverance Trust Scholarship this scholarship offers £7,500 per year and is for Hispanic students and students of other nationalities who are in the third year of their BSC (Bachelor of Science) Nursing or Midwifery degree course at Kings College and who can show evidence of financial need, the scholarship is designed to prevent students from leaving Kings College before they have completed the cause because they have financial problems, with Kings College offering £7,500 the student should be able to complete the studies without further hardship.
The Perseverance Trust support this scholarship at the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing & Midwifery, the scholarships are based both on the students financial position and their academic abilities, the students with the highest grades are more likely to be awarded this scholarship if there is competition for the Perseverance award. The scholarship is mostly issued for final year students who are struggling financially but is also available for all years of study for students struggling financially and the decision on whether to offer the scholarship will be made on a case by case basis.
When the scholarship is divided up over the three years of study £2,500 will be awarded for each year of study and the student will need to show satisfactory academic progress and progress in their clinical placement.

At the end of the year scholarship students will need to provide an end of year report about their progress and a letter of thanks to Bosco Tso, the letter of thanks and report will be forwarded to Bosco Tso so you will have the chance to thank your sponsor personally. The scholarship application form can be downloaded directly from the Kings College website and emailed back to the university when complete. Students will also need to include a supporting statement with their application form and this should detail why they should be awarded the scholarship.
Hispanic students and other nationality students for whom English is not their mother tongue will need to sit an English language test and forward the results of the test to the university prior to the student starting on their course and receiving their scholarship.
Perseverance Trust Hardship Bursary
The Faculty of Nursing and Midwifery also offer the Perseverance Trust Hardship Bursary, this is a bursary rather than the scholarship detailed earlier, the scholarship awards £7,500 whilst the bursary awards £500 typically although exact amounts might be more depending on the students individual needs. Students studying for the three year BSc Nursing or BSc Midwifery course are eligible to apply for the scholarship, the student must provide evidence of financial need meaning the student must need the money to study at Kings College, the students parents will need to have insufficient funds to pay their tuition or living expenses for the student.

Nigerian Law Scholars Fund
Kings College School of Law also provide for The Kings Nigerian Law Scholars Fund which is a scholarship by friends of the university (donations), the scholarship pays all tuition fees and makes available a small stipend for the students living expenses. As you might have guessed from the name of the scholarship, this scholarship is available to Nigerian students only and is designed to help students from Nigeria to study for the one year LLM law course, the scholarship is worth a very generous £25,000.
Students wishing to apply for this scholarship will need to write a personal statement about themselves and their financial situation and also demonstrate that they are in financial need, this is normally done by showing tax returns for the student if available and the students parents as the tax return will show the household earnings of the student and this will determine if the student or the students family are capable of supporting the student or if the student needs financial support to attend Kings.
Nigerian students wishing to apply for this scholarship will need to return to Nigeria after their course of study, if the student is planning on remaining in the UK then you are not eligible for this scholarship as one of the aims of the scholarship is to have Nigerian students returning to Nigeria so that the student can impart the knowledge they have learned from attending Kings to other Nigerians back in Nigeria.
Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Studentship
The Postgraduate Diploma in Nursing Studentship awards £5,000 for students who are enrolling on the two year Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Nursing, the student must provide evidence of financial need before the scholarship is awarded.
Dr Doris Chen Mathematics Scholarship
The Faculty of Natural and Mathematical Sciences also provides funding for Ph.D. students, scholarships include the Dr Doris Chen Mathematics Scholarship which is a scholarship set-up by the family of Dr Doris Chen who is an alumni of Kings College mathematics department. The scholarship is available to students who have been offered a place on the Ph.D. mathematics course at Kings, the student will get £5,000 per year for four years, the award amount will increase each year to keep up with inflation (so the scholarship award always has the same ‘buying power’).
Hispanic students and many other nationality students are eligible for the Dr Doris Chen mathematics scholarship, successful scholarship students will need to provide a copy of their Ph.D. research and a letter of thanks to the family of Dr Doris Chen who have financed the scholarship. No separate application is needed for this scholarship as all students applying for the Ph.D. in mathematics course at Kings College will be considered for this award.
Women in Science Scholarship
Also available from the mathematics department is the Women in Science Scholarship, this award is actually funded by Kings College themselves and is designed to encourage women to study STEM subjects like Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
